Configure RAID on an HP Server

Create a RAID logical volume that uses all physical disks on a server.

Note

VMware recommends that you use RAID5 for SAS drives and RAID6 for SATA drives.

Start or restart the HP server.

At boot time, press F8 to enter the Integrated Lights-Out 2 setup.

Provide credentials at the login prompt.

Press Ctrl+S to open the Intel Boot Agent Setup Menu.

Press F8 to open the ROM Array Configuration menu.

The Main Menu appears.

From the Main Menu, select Create Logical Drive and press Enter.

Select all physical disks under Available Physical Drives.

Select an appropriate RAID level under RAID Configurations.

VMware recommends that you use RAID 5, 6, or 10.

Press Esc.

The HP RAID controller creates the RAID logical drive.
